Fall Insight Meditation Retreat for Everyone
October 4 - October 6
Drawing on the teachings of the Buddha, we will explore awareness, mindfulness and compassion through the ancient practices of silent sitting and walking meditation, heart practices, group discussion and dharma talks.
Heartwood Mountain Sanctuary is located 200 miles north of San Francisco, about an hour drive outside of the town of Garberville. This secluded center is tucked into the hills of Humboldt County where peace and solitude abound. With a gorgeous meditation temple, yoga barn, indoor-outdoor dining lodge, hot tub, and sauna, it’s a perfect place to settle in, unwind and replenish.
Over the course of the weekend, we will extend the practices of mindful awareness throughout the day so our retreat is one of steady, continuous awareness, even as we enjoy our meals, take a hike, sauna or hot tub. In support of the extended periods of silence, we encourage you to let go of all devices and give yourself the time to create greater inner calm, spaciousness, presence, and love.
The newly renovated modern eco-lodging includes a wide variety of options from camping to shared rooms for two, single rooms with either twin, full or queen beds, individual cabinets or bungalows, and a couple of larger rooms with private bathrooms. The majority of the rooms are supported with shared bathroom facilities. The choice is yours.
The Heartwood Lodge Kitchen prepares the freshest farm-to-table fare, grown right on site. The culinary staff creates nourishing menus with seasonal farm fresh produce, merging the best of old world haute cuisine and new world innovation. Our first meal together will be Friday dinner, and our last meal will be a Sunday lunch. The chef is happy to reasonably accommodate those with food restrictions.
Everyone is welcome! This retreat is suitable for both beginning and seasoned practitioners. We hope you’ll join us!
